Joca is my assistant in music classes!
He is 6 years old and has been joining me in music classes here in Halifax since 2017.
Joca’s participation is especially marked at the beginning and end of the classes, when he greets and says goodbye to the children as we sing the welcome and farewell songs.
It is natural, at first, for young children to feel some strangeness in the class environment, with my presence, and with the other participants. Joca is responsible for helping the child connect with all these elements, thus creating a much more meaningful and engaging learning experience in the classes.
