Tonal center

The *tonal center* in music is the note or chord that functions as the point of rest and the main reference of a composition. It acts as an axis that organizes the listening experience, helping musicians understand the music, sing more in tune, memorize, and anticipate sounds within a musical context.

Exploring the tonal center with children and their families through songs, games, and vocal activities is one of the priorities in my lessons! Here is a practical example that illustrates this concept — my student is doing an amazing job!
